The Gap provides a community resource of high quality day services that offer support for those individuals aged 16+ in Oxfordshire who are homeless, vulnerable or socially excluded, with specialist services for 16-25 year olds. We enable appropriate move-on to independent and sustainable lifestyles for all, thus limiting the impact on the individual, the family and the wider community. Examples of the services we provide include cooked breakfast and lunch, shower and laundry facilities, clothing store, needle exchange, Nurse, sexual health advice and information, chlamydia testing onsite, housing advice and information, resettlement support, alcohol support, IT, CV sessions, Job Club, Spanish, running and fitness, football, aerobics, music, fishing and other group sessions.

Opening hours : 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday

The Gatehouse

This is in the same building as the Night Shelter (see separate entry). Non-residents, such as rough sleepers and street drinkers, can use the Day Shelter (by referral only) between 9.00a.m. and 3.30p.m. People who have been resettled and still need contact with care staff may also be referred. Facilities include:

The Porch Stepping Stones Centre - 139 Magdalen Road - 01865 728545 - theporch.org.uk

The Stepping Stones Centre offers its members modern and comfortable surroundings; meals twice a day for a small fee; laundry facilities for a small fee; showers; clothing store twice a week; volunteering opportunities; activities and training; a computer room with internet access; a specific room where people can get advice and information or discuss personal matters.

To become a member and be given a membership card turn up at the office at 139 Magdalen Street during opening hours. The centre is open to those over 16, although the focus is on the over 25's. No-one who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be allowed in.

Opening hours : Monday, Tuesday, Saturday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  Wednesday CLOSED

  Thursday, Friday, Sunday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
